BOMA Greater Little Rock Members Give Back to Community

Ensuring the “Total Package” for Senior Prom

Little Rock, Arkansas:  The members of Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Little Rock wanted to be sure that the 2017 Graduating Seniors of the Second Chance Youth Ranch were appropriately outfitted and pampered this year for their Senior Prom.  The Association covered the cost of the tux, hair and make-up salon appointments for the girls, and dinner out with their dates. This isn’t the first time that the professional organization of commercial real estate owners, managers and developers has extended their generosity to the Second Chance Youth Ranch. In 2016, and again in 2017, the organization purchased Magic Springs season passes for the kids.  They also purchased refrigerators for the newly opened “transition homes” for those youth aging out of the program, and ensured Easter at the Ranch was complete with overflowing Easter baskets for every child.  More recently, the BOMA members completed a campus-wide lighting upgrade to replace all incandescent and florescent light fixtures and bulbs in all their ranch facilities with new energy efficient LED bulbs and fixtures.  The retail value of the upgrade was approximately $12,000 and is estimated will save the Ranch approximately $600 per month in utility costs.  The Building Owners & Managers Association of Greater Little Rock made a three-year commitment to direct their charitable giving to the Second Chance Youth Ranch of Benton, AR.   There are approximately 30 youth currently in residence at the Second Chance Youth Ranch, a faith-based care facility for “at-risk” youth in foster care.

MORE . . . BOMA of Greater Little Rock made a $750 donation to the Beverly Carter Foundation at the conclusion of their day-long Continuing Education for Arkansas Real Estate License event which included speaker Carl Carter, Jr., son of the deceased Beverly Carter.  The Foundation was formed by Carl, Jr. to help educate real estate organizations in the importance of improved safety practices and awareness in the real estate industry.   The Arkansas Real Estate Commission added Safety as a 1-hour required course for all real estate license renewal through legislation in the 91st General Assembly (2017).
